Aviation Story
Queensland Helicopters was established in 1974 with its main base in Mt Isa servicing the mining and pastoral industries. In 1993 Queensland Helicopters based moved to Longreach, the hub of the Central West to further grow their operation.
Jamie Bush, Chief Pilot, began his flying career in 2009 obtaining his helicopter license.
Jamie’s flying career expands over 14 years, successfully running their Clermont operation since 2011, Jamie & wife Mardi purchased Queensland Helicopters in 2022 and have been making strides in all aspects of the operation. Working extensively in the areas of Charter, powerline survey, mining, tourism, incendiary, feral animal control, film, photography & surveying.
Robinson R44
The versatility of our Robinson R44 helicopters allows us to use them across varied operations including feral animal control, mapping and observation, property inspections, and light charter transport, featuring a four-seat configuration (pilot plus three passengers), a cruise speed of 100–113 knots, endurance of 2 to 2.5 hours, and a range of up to 560 kilometres.
Bell 206 Longranger
The Bell LongRanger is extremely versatile, offering substantial lifting capacity and an ideal layout for charter and survey work, with seating for seven (pilot plus six passengers), a cruise speed of 105 knots, endurance of 2 to 2.5 hours, and a range of approximately 600 kilometres.
Bell 212
The Bell 212 is a twin-engine workhorse built for firefighting, crew transport and medium-lift sling operations, delivering strong, stable lifting performance with seating for 1 pilot + 9 passengers and an external load capacity of approximately 1,300–1,600kg, backed by twin-engine redundancy for enhanced safety in high-risk environments.
Bel 205
Our Bell 205 is utilised across multiple operations, combining a large passenger capacity with strong lifting capability, seating up to 16 (pilot plus 15 passengers), cruising at 100 knots, with 2.5 hours endurance and an external lift capacity of up to 1.8 tonnes.
Bell 407
The Bell 407 is as impressive as it is versatile, featuring seating for seven (pilot plus six passengers), a cruise speed of 130 knots, endurance of 2.5 hours, and an external lift capacity of up to 900 kilograms — delivering performance and capability to get the job done right the first time.

Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency
Queensland Helicopters once again successfully assisted in the location and retrieval of valuable, sensitive payload from an experimental detection balloon. Services included passenger relocation to site to locate the payload and assess both access and sling operations for retrieval.
Ergon Energy & Energy Queensland
Queensland Helicopters continues to provide ongoing powerline patrol, fault finding and fault resolution across Queensland in the energy sector.
Galilee Gas
Queensland Helicopters provide employee and cargo relocation to and from Galilee Gas sites when access by other means is restricted or completely cut off on an ongoing basis.
QLD Fire & Emergency Services
Queensland Helicopters assists Queensland Fire & Emergency Services with a wide range of services from relocation of employees and cargo in urgent times of need to water bombing for control of bush and grass fires.
